Ask anyone who has searched for a flat in Lagos, Abuja or Port Harcourt, and you'll hear a version of the same story. A listing that looked perfect online. An "agent" who asked for an inspection fee, then an agency fee, then stopped picking up calls. A property that either didn't exist or belonged to someone who had never heard of the deal.
When I started MyPropifyNG, I wanted to fix that problem first, before anything else. Not with better photos or a nicer search page, but with one simple rule: no listing goes live until we've verified it.
The problem isn't search, it's trust
Nigeria doesn't lack property websites. What it lacks is a reliable way to know whether what you're looking at is real. When anyone can post a listing, people learn to assume the worst, and honest owners and agents suffer for it too, because seekers don't trust them either.
A property platform is only as good as the trust people place in its listings.
How our 3-stage verification works
- Document authentication. We check title and ownership documents to confirm that the person listing a property has the right to rent or sell it.
- Physical inspection. Someone visits the property to confirm it exists and matches its description and photos.
- Partner validation. Trusted partners confirm the listing before it goes live, adding a final layer of protection.
Only after all three steps does a property appear on the platform with a verified badge.
Why we made listing free
Verification takes effort, so it would be easy to charge for it. We chose not to. Listing on MyPropifyNG is free for owners and seekers, because we want genuine properties on the platform, not just the ones whose owners can afford to pay.
What comes next
We're working on ProPifyAI, which will match people with suitable verified properties within 24 hours of a request, and we plan to grow beyond Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt to five major cities.
If you're looking for a home, or you have a property to list, visit mypropify.com.ng. And if you've been scammed while house hunting, I'd like to hear your story. It shapes what we build next.
